AAF Outreach

Our job in AAF is to tell the public about fox hunting. We show up in towns (sometimes villages) with our leaflets, and just talk to passersby. If you’d like to set up some outreach of your own for AAF, check out our advice. Alyson Rogers, our Outreach Advisor will help you get started.

AAF Outreach – We need your help

Would you like to organise AAF Outreach but don’t know how to start?

I am Alyson Rogers and I am your Outreach Advisor and here to help and support you to organise a simple Outreach.

What is Outreach?

Outreach is a fantastic tool for AAF to spread the word about fox hunting by leafleting and chatting with the public.

We reach so many people on the street and you will find the majority hate fox hunting as much as we do.

How do I start?

You can start very simply with our Outreach Pack. This is a box things you’ll find useful. See below for details.

Firstly, choose the town or village that you want to outreach.

Find a spot where there is a lot of footfall.

You may ask:  Do we need permission from the council or can we just turn up?

The answer is: Not if you choose public land.  A pavement is usually public land, but you mustn’t block the pavement.  The best places are either squares or wide pavements, but not shopping centres as they are usually private land.

Choose a date where footfall is at its best.  Market days are ideal.

It’s always best to do Outreach with someone else, We can put you in touch with other volunteers in your area who may wish to do Outreach.

What do I need to do Outreach?

We have a starter pack which we will supply to you. This includes leaflets, two AAF  hi vis vests  and a waterproof poster. We’ll need a deposit of £23 for this, but we will return the deposit if you do three or more outreaches.

Outreach Pack – Hi vis vests, leaflets, waterproof poster, name badges, business cards.

You can attach the waterproof poster to a board, make some holes and stick some ties through it, so that you can hang it up somewhere on the street.

You will need to have the answers to the questions that the public ask. I have attached a useful downloadable list.

Volunteers Charter

We must remain calm and polite at all times. No engaging angrily with pros etc, as it is pointless.

AAF  have a section on our website  about Members’  behaviour when acting on behalf of AAF called the Members Policy and Charter.  Please read this before you do Outreach https://www.actionagainstfoxhunting.org/aaf-members-charter-aaf-policies/
