All respondents were unknown passers-by. Some respondents approached us to ask if they could contribute, but most agreed to take part after we asked them. We treated everyone with respect, regardless of their views. In the interests of fairness and our stated aim of finding out the real figures, we did not allow our views to influence the respondents’ answers. All passers-by were invited to answer, with no one being excluded. When asked, we identified ourselves as Action Against Foxhunting, but we did not offer the information in advance of the respondents’ contributions in case it influenced their decisions. All answers were recorded accurately, and with the respondent looking at the sheet at the time.
