STORIES
POLICE
Two Counties Hunt Sabs report that the Cattistock Hunt appeared to change their behaviour or intentions after Dorset Police arrived on the scene on 27/09/25. The police apparently did not stay long but their mere attendance was enough to distract or disrupt the Hunt. The Meet took place on Johnnie Boden’s land in Wytherston. Boden is a known fashion brand.
Peterborough Hunt Sabs were at pains to thank the Cambridgeshireshire Rural Crime Team for turning up to the Fitzwilliam Hunt on Wednesday, 15th October. Almost as soon as the police dropped by, the Hunt packed up and went home.
This Hunt may be unusually nervous as they already have four convictions with another court case pending next month.
On 04/10/25, the police turned up at the Albrighton and Woodland Hunt outing. Staffordshire Hunt Sabs appear to believe this may have been to ensure that the Hunt was complying with their Community Protection Warning. The Hunt packed up after only two hours.
HUNT VIOLENCE
On Monday, 13/10/25, Gary McCann, a supporter from the Vale of White Horse Hunt, assaulted a Cotswold Sab. Gloucestershire police were informed and attended. The Police now have footage of the incident.
On Saturday, 18/10/25, Bristol Hunt Sabs were surrounded in their vehicle, which was attacked with threats of violence made. Dash-cams front and rear on the vehicle recorded a preceding incident, so a claim of a collision can be proven to be spurious. The police were phoned and the threats recorded on the 999 call. The police attended and are now dealing with the incident.

HUNT TRESPASS
A member of the Plymouth and West Devon Hunt Sabs fell whilst sabbing the Spooners and Western Hunt, and received a nasty gash on her head. As the sab’s report says, “when Dartmoor National Park, National Trust, Southwest Water, the Duchy, and Devon and Cornwall Police actually do their jobs, then there won’t be any need for hunt sabs to be out there.”.
Hull Wildlife Protectors (HWP) have a reel dating 06/10/25 showing a local woman remonstrating with members of the Holderness Hunt who was, she said, “livid” after the Hunt
tore through her field, terrifying both herself and her horse. On this post, HWP list 12 other incidents where the Hunt had caused consternation and chaos.
ROAD/ TRAFFIC INCIDENTS
On Thursday 09/10/25, there was an accident on the B4077 in Gloucestershire, in which a van and several other vehicles were probably written off, just after a loose hound from the North Cotswold Hunt appeared in the road. The hound escaped unscathed and drivers received suspected whiplash injuries.
Cheshire Monitors have pictures from 14/10/25 of Wynnstay Hunt terriermen fully masked up, and of four persons riding a single, unplated quad. (To be fully masked up and unidentifiable is strange behaviour on a trail hunt.) As driving a quad this way is illegal, this has now been reported to the police.
SABS CLEARED OF AGGRAVATED TRESPASS
East Northants Hunt Saboteurs report that on Fri 15/10/25, at St Albans Magistrates Court, two of their members were found ‘not guilty’ of aggravated trespass. The charge related to an incident involving the Cambridge with Enfield Chace Hunt at their final meeting of the season (08/03/25). Both of the wrongly accused had been subject to assaults which led to hospital treatment.
FOLDING HUNTS and HUNTSMAN QUITS
The Countryside Alliance has revealed that another beagle pack, the Dorset-based Park Beagles, has also folded and, as with the Sandhurst and Aldershot Beagles, it too has become a hunt club.
The Cheshire Hunt have put in a planning application to develop their kennels and existing agricultural buildings into seven hi-spec homes. Presumably there will be plans to locate the hounds elsewhere.
The huntsman of the Warwickshire Hunt, Will Goffe, is leaving the Warwickshire Hunt at the end of this season. Goffe has been hunting for decades, and was convicted of illegal hunting in the early years post-ban, in 2007.
FARCICAL FRIDAY FLOPS or DISMAL ‘NATIONAL TRAIL HUNTING DAY’
There were only seven locations for these pieces of theatre this year, and all were thin on the ground. In the Westcountry, the hounds of the Cotley Hunt rioted on a deer while they were attempting to demonstrate ‘trail hunting. Here, as with the others, not only was attendance very sparse, it would appear that nobody of any ‘significance’ attended either.
STAG KILL
The North Dorset Hunt Sabs have a gruelling account of the conduct of the Quantock Staghounds and the killing of a stag with the aid of at least five hounds, when the law only permits two.
On 07/10/25, the South Dorset Hunt’s hounds chased down and killed a young deer. The police were informed but did not appear to be much interested.
FOX KILLS
North Dorset Hunt Sabs fear the Blackmore and Sparkford Vale may have killed a fox on 16/10/25. Following yaps from a terrier in woodland, hounds were heard to be in cry for a lengthy period, as well as holloas heard, indicating a fox sighting.. Hounds then ran from the wood, on a fox, followed by the whoops from the huntsmen normally made after the horn call for a kill. As sabs approached, the hounds were being praised. Sabs hope the possible alternative, that the fox may have marked to ground, was the fox’s outcome, but they fear the worst.
The NDHS report that the Portman Hunt killed on 18/10/25. The horn call for a kill was heard.
