Pewsey – Boxing Day Meet, North Street Car Park

by Dec 21, 2022

Submission to Pewsey Parish Council, concerning public safety at the Boxing Day Hunt Meet in North Street Car Park.

AAF’s submission (link above) detailing the dangers to public safety at the Boxing Day Hunt meet was sent to Pewsey Parish Council on 4th October 2022, and again on 16th November. The second time, it was sent to all the councillors individually. The submission was researched, evidenced and supported by legislation. It shows serious public safety issues, that the council should have considered before allowing the meet to go ahead.
Some councillors thanked us for the submission, others ignored it. No one commented on the serious content or the potential dangers to the public. The risks to public safety were not discussed at the meeting.
After the council took the decision to allow the meet, we contacted them to ask if the council had completed their own risk assessment for the event – something they MUST do as the landowners. They have acknowledged our request, but have not confirmed that they have written the risk assessment. They have a moral and legal obliglation to do this, and it is even more imperative now that a protest is taking place.

In the opinion of AAF, this meet poses a serious risk to public safety.
