I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I am interested in the Warwickshire Police Force and their officers affiliation to local hunts, with a particular interest in the Warwickshire Hunt.

I believe there are potential conflicts of interest within the force, due to officers personal opinions on hunting and their affliations to hunts, and unfortunately I believe some officers may be using their position of power to protect or influence the policing of the Warwickshire Hunt.

I believe it is within the public’s interest that this information should be made available as it is a matter that directly affects Warwickshire residents. The Warwickshire Hunt are continually being allowed to illegally hunt and cause chaos on local roads. They are regularly out of control on roads as are their hounds. This poses a great risk to Warwickshire road users and therefore I believe we are entitled to know the level of biase towards the Hunt and how that may affect the police protecting the local community.

I therefore have some further questions that I seek clarity on:

  • How many officers within the Warwickshire police force (regardless of position) have disclosed that they are affiliated to any hunt?
  • How many officers within the Warwickshire police force (regardless of position) have disclosed that they are affiliated to the Warwickshire Hunt?
  • How many officers within the Warwickshire police force (regardless of position) have disclosed their affiliation to a pro hunt organisation, such as the British Hounds Sports Association or the Countryside Alliance?
  • How many officers within the Warwickshire police force (regardless of position) have disclosed that they participate in hunting?
  • Of the officers that have disclosed any of the above, how many are senior officers within the Warwickshire police force?

As the information I have requested is in the best interests of the public I request that any fees for locating and copying the records be waived. I would appreciate your handling of this request within the statutory timeframe of 20 working days, as stipulated by the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
